Who hasn't built a lamp?
I had a slow week, and an idea.  I like heavy, ridiculously strong things.  I highly dislike the heavily manufactured paper thin metals and wood veneers that are used to make most of the furniture today.  I wanted a lamp...  A lamp that, if it fell would damage the floor before the lamp got hurt.   Being awesome, I decided to build said lamp.
I like mixing consistent angles and smooth curves in my work so I decided on a heavily angled body for the lamp, and base, while the shade I chose would incorporate the curve.
For the base I wanted something raised, but obviously very strong. I plasma cut this plate out then ground groves to facilitate 'legs'.
After bending the plate on each corner the basic shape of the base is achieved.
The first two legs attached to the base.
Adding the arms.
Finished adding the top. It doesn't show very well in this photo but the lamp is crooked. I took this build apart and did it again paying closer attention to to the angles. The second time it came out great.
After painting and adding some hand painted steel leaves.
Here it with the shade while off and looking cool.
Making sure it turns on and looks nice :)
